Natural looking Make-up!!

Postby italia » Sat Jul 03, 2010 10:22 pm

I'm looking for a make-up artist in Dublin if anyone has any tips on someone who is good at doing NATURAL looking make-up!! Had a trial recently with a make-up artist who sounded good on paper but I was really disappointed with how I looked- panda eyes, face too brown.... :( Any suggestions will be appreciated.

What did u think of Amy Huberman's wedding on Fri, thought her make up was fab very subtle and natural. I'll have a look and see if i can find out who did the make up, i think Dylan Bradshaw did her hair..
Have u tried the BT counters?

Thanks for the reply g4a2011! Yep thought she looked fab! Was thinking of approaching the makeup counters but haven't done so yet... I usually use Benefit makeup and find it great so might try the Benefit counter and see what they suggest. Thanks again!

The make up counters would be good and they could also maybe advise you on the best colour for your skin and what would las the day and then tell your make-up artists thats what you want. I had a bad experience for my debs with make-up, wanted natural foundation with dark eyes, but she made me far too dark and was very conscious of it all day, perhaps get her to do it early in the day and try and get it done it as close to natural light as possilbe, as certain lighting can make make-up look very different!

try Makeup by Ash. or makeup.ie or zoeclark.com they all have fab reputations and are experts in their field, all in dublin aswel! the only think is they are quite costly but you cant put a price on how amazing you look on your wedding day lol

I agree with fairylauren, they all have good reputations. At the moment I am thinking of doing my own make-up for my wedding, but getting a few lessons between now and then, maybe as part of your hen or even a girly night in you could get make-up lessons and get one of you bridesmaids to do your make-up on the day with the products that you know suit you and you are comfortable with!

my advice would to go to people who specialise in make-up rather than going to a salon, im a beauty therapist and to be honest if you go to a salon for lessons they just have have beautician doing it as part of her many other jobs, as a therapist we learn the basics of make-up up it doesnt me we are brilliant at it certain people have a flair for great make-up but not everyone does it!! a company like LA Make-up do make-up lessons or even the above list of people i mentioned do lessons!!! but we wary it mightend always end up cheaper, when you get your make-up lesson they use up market products and if you want to then go on and buy all the products ( your talking eyeshadows foundation, bases, correctors, illuminators, bronzers, blushers, mascara, lip stick or gloss, liners, make-up refereshers, and most likely you will need the brush set if you want to do what your learned from your lesson) unless you and your bms all chip in it will cost a bomb and you will need to buy different foundations and other things as what suits you in very unlikely going to suit all your bms!! so when you think about it finding a reasonably priced make-up artist could work out just a costly as doing your own along with your BMs !!

Never thought of the cost of all the make-up, I was hoping of getting a lesson and then just using the make-up that I normall use for nights out as I am comfortable with that make-up and know that it suits me. Was hoping to get ideas on how to make it last and some nice ideas for doing my eyes aswell.

well if your happy with your make up just go and get a lesson and bring your own with you, beware though a lot of places will try and get you to buy stuff and its really hard not to because they could use or suggest a product or 20 that you fall in love with, im weak when it comes to that kind of thing lol i love make -up!! you should have a look on you tube or MAC website have little videos on how to do eyes etc and they are really cool!! do a bit of reasearch on products that will make your make up last sych as primers setting powders and there are these mists that you can spritz on your face to help it last Jayne Ardel does a pomergranate one which is to die for!! you will want to spray it in your mouth its so yummy lol!! hydrating sprays are good but its mainly about the founbdation and eyesahdows staying power!!
