Losing Weight and Toning Up

Postby Mrs2be » Tue Sep 07, 2010 1:31 pm

Hi Girls.

Anyone got any handy tips for dieting and toning up.

I am going to try to start healthy eating now instead of a crash diet a few months before the big day.

I really want to tone up the top of my legs and my arms. i def dont want to have big bingo wings on the big day.

I heard that a thigh master would be a good job for my legs but any ideas how best to tone up the arms??? :?:

Tricep dips are great for toning the arms, modified press-ups also work where you are on you knees rather than balancing on your feet.

For your legs you cold also do lunges and squats, tone up thighs and glutes (bum). These are the simplest of exercises that can be done at home or while out for a run/walk aswell as requires little or no equipment. If you wanted more of a challenge with lunges and squats you can use weights.

If you have dumbbells handy or even a (closed) packet of sugar or flour you can do arm curls and different arm exercises, or use cans of veg such as peas/beans or cans of soup to add a little weight as you only need small weight and high repitions to tone up!

ive just joined a gym so gonna try get stuck into it and just eat healthy meals and cut out snaking on junk ( as i write i am sucking sweets, not good lol) ! there is nothing worse than crash dieting!! i have heard thigh master is good or else you can do the above exercises that grogmc mentioned!! run up and down the stiars that will soon have your lower half toned!!! the muscles in the upper body ie triceps biceps deltoids and pecs are smaller musle groups and are easier to tone up so if you do exercises like bicep and tricelp curls and dips you will notice a differance within 4-6 weeks so thats good news!!! a combination of cardio and weights is the best way to lose weight, cardio is a good fatt blaster and burns calories at a fast rate where as weight training works the muscles and the great thing about weight training is that your body continues to burn calories long after you work out , while your muscles are repairing!! buy a set of 5kg weights u can get them cheap in sports shops and start with 3 reps of 15 or until your muscles feel tierd!!

you can google all the exercise moves. i bought Irelands Wedding Journal the autum addition and there is an excellent workout plan for toning in it and its easey to follow!! best of luck!!

Well done on the healthy eating, but dont deprive yourself completly of sweet things as this will make your cravings worse, the whole wanting what you cant have, simply because you cant have it, give yourself a treat day every now and then, but just be senisble about the treat. Also cutting down on the amount of alcohol we consume can also drastically reduce the amount of calories we take in, even though we dont realise it!

3lbs is brilliant in a week, another thing dont worry if for a week or two you dont lose any weight or very little weight, this just means that you body has adjusted to some of the changes and means you need to give your plan a little tweek, like doing an extra 5/10 mins walk/exercise or uping the tempo of a walk/exercise.
