Hey everyone,
I'm getting married Oct/Nov next year. Only really getting started so don't have a date set yet. Am hoping to do as much as I can myself to save money so if anyone has ideas I'd be delighted to hear them.

Re: Hey there
Congradulations and welcome!!!
There's loads of ways to keep spending to a minimum and maximise your saving, if you are saving yourself I would advise put away a little every week, even a small amount and keep a jar for small change and loose notes like if you have 2 fivers in your purse chuck one into the jar, you'd be surprised how fast it all adds up!
Shop around is the best idea and get loads of quotes, especially for hotels and then if you really like one, try and use prices from other places to see if they will bring down the price, haggle haggle haggle. Also a mid-week wedding is cheaper, or else keep guest numbers small for the main part and have a large evening reception! Try and get as much included in the hotel package as possilbe, cuts costsin other places!
Become best friends with google and the interent, you can find brilliant deals from loads of places. DIY invites also cut down on costs as does DIY favours or cutting out favours. For photographers CD only packages are brilliant idea and lets you print your own pictures aswell as having hte option of getting an album done at a later stage when you have the funds. Dont stress about a honeymoon, leave it till the summer afterwards or till your 1st anniversary.
If you have friends with talents such as singing, djing bands, cakes, hair, make-up etc ask them to do things for you as wedding presents, also you could ask if family would like to contribute to different aspects of the wedding as their present (but always keep the decision making power!).
Also this site is brilliant for ideas and if you have any problems or questions ask away, you will always get an answer!!
Happy Planning
