Welcome Tracey, wedding in Italy would be lovely, I would say save money on some big things like the dresses, as its in Italy you can get away with very summery dresses, you could check the end of season sales at the moment for dresses. Also for your own dress, go light and floaty, Monsoon have some lovely light dresses perfect for destination weddings and really well priced aswell!
Counting down to October 27th 2012 - the day I will marry my best friend

Hi Tracey
Congrats to you on getting married.
I had been looking into getting married abroad and there are loads of websites that do everything for you for the big day - because you are not going to be there its probably best to go with those options cause u wud spend a fortune travelling to Italy to sort things out.
I know that Lake Garda is fantastic for a wedding but it is a common wedding venue and so it is pretty expensive. I would think that if you were to leave it until closer to the end of september the price would prob b cheaper than the start of sept.
Its so hard to save for weddings when you have other bills.
I am doing a course at the moment too and im studying from home so i have to pay for a correspondance facilitator - despite them being soo rubbish!! but its costly - im going to try for the full year upfront which is quite a cost but at least my money will be my money then apart from the usual bills!
Congrats to you on getting married.

Hi Tracey - i was just on facebook there and there is a site for booking weddings in Italy - looks pretty good - so if you have a facebook page you should look it up.
It has great ideas on it. I would say if you just type in a search for wedding in italy it will come up on the fb search
